Oil, Tyre Marks and Moss Off Your Driveway.

Driveway Cleaning in Sydney

Your driveway carries the car in and out every day, catches each drip from the engine and sits under whatever the street trees drop on it. We clean plain concrete, exposed aggregate, stencilled and coloured concrete, pavers and brick driveways for Sydney homes, strata and commercial sites, adjusting the pressure to each finish so the stones, colour coat and joints stay where they belong.

Before & After: A Concrete Side Passage in Balmain

Strictly speaking this is a concrete side passage, not a driveway, cleaned in Balmain in October 2026, but it shows the same problem a shaded driveway has. Moss and algae had turned the slab green and slick between the fence and the house wall. Once cleaned, the bare concrete came back up and the sandstone flag beside the drain showed its colour again.

Matching the Pressure to Your Driveway's Finish

No two driveway finishes take the same treatment. Plain broom-finished concrete can handle a firm, steady pass. Exposed aggregate needs a gentler setting so the pebbles stay bedded in the cement, and a stencilled or coloured surface is cleaned below the point where its colour coat would start to lift. On pavers and brick, the joints and edges get as much attention as the faces.

Why Shaded and Steep Driveways Turn Slippery

A driveway in the shadow of the house or a neighbour's tree rarely dries out properly after rain, and that damp film is where moss and algae get their start. On a steep Sydney driveway the result is a green slope that gives way under shoes and tyres alike. Leaves left lying on the concrete add their own brown tannin prints, which no amount of sweeping will shift.

Driveway Cleaning FAQs

Straight answers on stains, finishes, timing and what to expect when your driveway is booked in.

Can you get old oil stains out of my driveway?

Fresh drips usually come up well. Oil that has sat in concrete for years soaks deep into its pores, so an old stain will often lighten and fade rather than vanish completely. It helps to know that before booking, so the result matches what you expect.

How soon can I drive on it after it's cleaned?

Straight away, in most cases. Cleaning leaves nothing behind to cure or set, so the car can go back on once the equipment is packed up. If the driveway is going to be sealed, it needs to dry out fully first, and whoever applies the sealer will tell you how long they want.

Will pressure cleaning loosen exposed aggregate or damage pavers?

It can if the pressure is set too high, which is why one setting is never used for everything. Exposed aggregate is cleaned at a lower pressure so the stones stay bedded, and pavers are worked carefully along the joints so the sand between them stays put. Stencilled and coloured concrete gets the same care to protect its surface coat.

Should I seal the driveway after cleaning?

Sealing suits many driveways, particularly coloured and stencilled concrete, and our part is the clean that comes before it. A sealer bonds best to concrete that is free of grime, moss and loose material. If you are planning to seal, mention it when you book and leave the slab to dry completely before the sealer goes on.

How often does a driveway need cleaning?

There is no fixed schedule. A sunny driveway might go a couple of years between cleans, while one under trees or on the shady side of the house can turn green again within a season or two. Keeping leaves swept off and fixing a leaking car both slow the build-up down.

Do I need to move the car?

Yes, please. The whole driveway needs to be clear, including the patch where the car usually parks, which is often where the worst oil marks are. Parking on the street or in the garage while we work is ideal, along with moving bins and pot plants off the concrete.

What does driveway cleaning cost?

Driveway cleaning is priced as part of our pressure washing service, which starts from $150. Each quote is based on the size of the driveway, the surface it is made of and how much build-up there is, so a short plain-concrete driveway costs less than a long, mossy one with paved edges.

Can you clean stencilled or coloured concrete?

Yes. These finishes have a thin colour or stencil coat on top, so the pressure stays low enough not to strip it and the wand keeps moving to avoid patchy marks. Spots where the coat has already worn through will still show after cleaning, and often look more obvious once the grime is gone.

Will tyre marks come off?

Most tyre marks lift with pressure cleaning, especially the black scuffs where cars turn into the garage. Marks baked in by years of hot tyres on summer concrete can leave a faint shadow behind.

My driveway is steep and slippery when wet. Can cleaning help?

That slipperiness usually comes from a thin layer of moss or algae on the surface. Taking it back to bare concrete or paver gives tyres and shoes something to grip again. On steep, shaded driveways the growth returns over time, so cleaning on a regular cycle keeps them safer to walk and drive on.

What about brown leaf stains on the concrete?

Leaves that sit on concrete through a wet spell leave tannin marks behind, a bit like a tea stain on a bench. Pressure cleaning lightens most of them, and the fresher the stain, the better it comes up.

Are you insured?

Yes. We are a family-owned Sydney business carrying $10 million in public liability insurance.

Are the cleaning products safe for my garden and pets?

The products we use are biodegradable and eco-friendly, and safe around gardens, pets and children. That matters on a driveway, where the run-off flows past lawns and garden beds on its way to the street.

Will I get photos of the finished job?

Yes. Every job comes with before-and-after photos, which are handy for strata records, a rental condition report or simply seeing how far the driveway has come.
