Clean Walls, Eaves and Fascia.

House Washing in Sydney

A house wash takes the mould, algae, mildew, soot film and grime off the outside of your home, working from the eaves and fascia down to the walls and the rest of the facade. Render, painted brick, face brick and weatherboard are all cleaned with a low-pressure soft wash, letting a biodegradable solution loosen the dirt so the paint and render underneath are left as they were. Common reasons to book one are an upcoming sale, a repaint, or walls that stay green in damp shade.

Before & After: A Recent House Wash in Leichhardt

In September 2026 we washed this rendered two-storey home with a double garage in Leichhardt. Grey streaks and mould had built up on the rendered gables, and a gentle wash with a biodegradable solution lifted them without putting the render at risk.

What a House Wash Covers

Washing from the roofline down keeps dirty runoff off sections that have already been rinsed. The eaves and fascia boards go first, as mould spots, mildew and soot film tend to gather in the shade under the roof edge. The walls and the rest of the facade come next, whether your home is rendered, painted brick, face brick or weatherboard.

Why Low Pressure Protects Paint and Render

A high-pressure jet held close to a wall can lift paint at its edges, score soft render, wear out mortar joints and drive water up behind weatherboards. A gentler wash takes a different route: the cleaning solution loosens the mould, mildew and soot film, and an easy rinse carries it away. Your walls keep their coating, so you are not left patching or repainting spots a cleaner has chewed up.

Our products are biodegradable and eco-friendly, so the wash is safe around gardens, pets and children. For the detail behind the method, read how soft washing works.

House Washing FAQs

Straight answers to the questions Sydney homeowners ask before booking a house wash.

What does a house wash include?

A house wash covers the outside walls of your home along with the eaves and fascia above them, on render, painted brick, face brick and weatherboard. Paths, driveways, roofs and gutters are cleaned as separate services.

Will house washing damage my paint?

Not when it is done at low pressure. Paint usually fails during a wash because a strong jet catches an edge or a weak spot and peels it back. We keep the pressure down and let the solution break down the grime, which leaves sound paint where it is. If some paint is already flaking, point it out when you book so that area can be handled with extra care.

How long does a house wash take?

Timing comes down to the size of the house, whether it is single or double storey, how much growth is on the walls and how easy the sides are to reach. If the walls need to be finished by a set date, such as a photo shoot or a painter's start, mention it when you ask for a quote.

How do I get the house ready for a wash?

Clear access matters most. Unlock the side gates, close the windows, keep pets inside, and move cars, outdoor furniture and pot plants back from the walls. If you will be out on the day, say so when you book so access can be arranged beforehand.

How often should I have my house washed?

It depends on where the house sits. Walls in damp, shaded spots, under trees or close to the water tend to need a wash every year, while sunny, open walls can usually go longer. Green or black patches appearing on the shady side are a good sign it is time to book again.

Do you wash render and brick the same way?

No. Render is softer and more porous than brick, so it gets a light rinse and a solution mixed to suit it. Face brick can handle a little more, but the mortar between the bricks still wears away under a strong jet. Painted brick is treated like any painted surface, and weatherboard is rinsed downward so water is not pushed up under the boards.

When should I book a house wash before selling?

Aim to have it done before the photographer arrives and before the first open home. Booking a few days to a week ahead gives the walls time to dry and leaves room to reschedule if rain moves the date. It is worth adding window cleaning and a driveway clean so the whole frontage looks cared for in the listing photos.

Should I wash the house before painting it?

Yes, painters want clean walls to start from. Paint laid over mould, chalky residue or grime struggles to bond and can peel early. Book the wash ahead of the painters and ask them how long they want the walls left to dry before the first coat.

Is house washing safe for my garden, pets and kids?

Yes. We use biodegradable, eco-friendly products that are safe around gardens, pets and children. While the team is working, it still makes sense to keep pets and little ones indoors so they stay clear of hoses and wet paths.

Can you wash a double-storey house?

Yes. The Leichhardt home shown above is a rendered two-storey house, and our team members are certified to work safely at heights.

Will the mould grow back after a house wash?

Eventually, yes, because spores are always in the air and Sydney stays humid for much of the year. Washing removes the growth that is there now, and walls that dry out quickly stay clean for longer. Trimming back shrubs and branches that shade the walls helps slow its return.

Are you insured for house washing?

Yes. Ultimate Exterior Clean is fully insured, with $10 million in public liability cover.

Will I see photos of the finished wash?

Yes. Every job comes with before-and-after photos, so you have a record of how the walls looked before the wash and how they finished up.

Yes. We also offer gutter cleaning, exterior window cleaning and pressure washing for driveways and paths. Tell us which ones you would like when you ask for a quote and they can be priced together.
